Masoub (Banana Bread Mash with Ghee & Honey)

- Bread3 loaves whole wheat bread or tamees
- Banana3 ripe bananas
- Ghee3 tbsp
- Honey3 tbsp

Method
Tear the 3 loaves of bread into small pieces and warm them in a dry pan over medium heat for 3 minutes until warm and slightly dry.
Peel the 3 ripe bananas and mash them with a fork in a bowl (mash the pitted dates with them if using).
Melt the 3 tbsp ghee in a pot over low heat.
Add the bread and mashed banana to the ghee and work them together with a pestle or wooden spoon for 3–4 minutes over low heat until evenly combined, smooth and holding together.
Transfer the masoub to a serving dish, shape it into a mound and make a shallow well in the centre.
Pour the 3 tbsp honey into the well and over the top.
Garnish with cream, grated cheese and almonds if using, and serve warm.
